I'm Amy Bass, professor of sports studies.

I'm here today to answer your questions from the internet.

This is Olympic History Support.

Buckshot0331 wants to know, is the Olympics today the same Olympics that the ancient Greeks did?

Absolutely not.

The antiquity games basically focused on things like running and wrestling, some boxing, some jumping, where we have so many events in the modern games, over 200 countries.

We have women competing, almost 11,000 athletes.

And I think most importantly in the modern games, the athletes wear clothes.

Alfbridge43 asks, what were the original ancient Greek Olympic sports?

And the answer to that is simple.
