- Look at the leaf springs of a pickup truck compared to the double wishbone suspension of a Formula one car.

They look pretty different.

Yet they're both trying to achieve the same goal of keeping the tires down on the ground and the car suspended in the air among many other things.

Now Zach really wanted to make a video where we try and explain how each and every type of suspension works.

He's been wanting to make this video since we worked at another YouTube channel.

- That's true, - But finally we are doing it.

This is every type of suspension explained from simple to not simple for cars specifically not motorcycles or tractors or boats or anything else.

First things first, let's get some basics out of the way.

Suspension systems almost always consist of three things.

Springs to allow the wheels to move independently from the chassis, while always returning back to center dampers, which in most cases are a shock absorber that control or damp the springs oscillations.
